  • Selection of specifications for steel balls

  • The selection of steel shot specifications directly affects the surface treatment quality and operational efficiency. Under the premise of meeting the surface roughness requirements, steel shot with a larger diameter can be preferred to improve treatment efficiency.
In actual production, it is recommended to use graded steel shot, which is generally composed of about 50% nominal size steel shot combined with steel shot of different particle sizes, which can balance impact force and coverage. Compared with single particle size steel shot, it can achieve more balanced treatment effect and lower surface roughness.
Steel balls will continuously wear out and gradually decrease in particle size during use. In order to maintain a stable grading curve, new steel balls need to be replenished in a timely manner. If too much material is added at once, it can easily cause the surface of the casting to become rough; If not replenished for a long time, the surface quality will improve, but the processing efficiency will significantly decrease. Reasonably controlling the pace of material replenishment is necessary to balance surface quality and operational efficiency.
